My name is Tony Boot, born at Rotterdam. Following my higher professional studies I took a diploma in drawing (ornamental art). After having worked for many years in education as a teacher of drawing, textiles and history of art, my passion for painting once more became very strong. So, during the 1980s I started again with painting.
The first paintings, using acrylic, were inspired by my dreams as well as my personal development. Sometimes the paintings began to show a mystical charge. Creativity, light and colour became central to my life. Nowadays, I work with oil paint, tempera and acrylic paint. My art subjects are diverse. In my work I express who in essence I am. For me it represents a change process that that is forever in motion. Sometimes I paint realistically; but in my work I more often explore what touches me. This I then work out further on the canvas.

I enjoy working with colours, as colours have their own language and expression. Colours do have a soul and they vibrate in their own way. In his book “uber das Geistige in der Kunst” Kandinsky argued that colour and sound have a psychological impact on the human soul. For me the symbolism in my work is very important, as we live in a world full of symbols. Spirituality and love are important themes, they are very much part of my life.Spirituality and love are important themes, they are very much part of my life. As a result, symbolism in my work is very important, as we live in a world full of symbols. I have an interest in several spiritual traditions, such as that of the Mayas and Buddhism. My life philosophy is that we are ourselves responsible for how we give meaning to our lives.
